Skype’s Smart Finanical Decision or Slime Ball Move?

In a recent business move, Skype has decided to fire several key Sr. Executives prior to the closing of Microsoft’s buyout. Why? Skype will avoid costly payouts to these Executives if they let them go prior to the deal closing saving  Skype and potentially Microsoft money. What is your opinion?     Couldn’t tell from the Bloomberg article if it was strategic or if management was trying to reduce costs by screwing long-term employees. Given that quite a few people lost their jobs, if it was a slimeball move, you can bet the lawyers will be busy. More to come, I’m sure.
